March 2024_Through the Fog

Angel, a pastor who helps me in the warehouse, asked if we could provide a hospital bed to someone in his congregation who would soon be released from the hospital. She had been involved in an accident, which required her to get screws for the bones in her legs. They then became infected and had to be replaced with antibiotic infused hardware.

The day she came home, I was out delivering furniture with Angel. He asked if today would work to drop off the bed. It was quite foggy, but I had time. I asked where she lived, thinking somewhere in town. Angel asked, “Do you know Adrian?” I thought to myself, “Whoa! I don’t know if going 15 miles in this fog is feasible?” Angel continued, “She lives past Adrian with her family in Ellsworth.”

Off we went...

With visibility at best a tenth of a mile, and a bout with road construction that led to driving on gravel for almost seven miles. We made it to Ellsworth and set up the bed. What we thought would take 1 hour, ended up taking 2-2.5, but we completed the journey and were able to meet the need.
